Scour pro­tec­tion: basalt bags

Off­shore wind tur­bines in par­tic­u­lar are faced with the chal­lenge that the ocean cur­rents erode the soil lay­er around the foun­da­tion. This process is usu­al­ly coun­ter­act­ed with the back­fill­ing of stones. 

How­ev­er, the chal­lenge can­not always be solved in this way. Some­times the right rock is not avail­able in the region in ques­tion to stop the scour­ing process. 

Jäger Mar­itime Solu­tions GmbH basalt bags are a flex­i­ble and envi­ron­men­tal­ly friend­ly solu­tion. The bags are made of a spe­cial­ly devel­oped basalt fab­ric and are con­ve­nient­ly filled with round grav­el or sand on site. Besides the appli­ca­tion as scour pro­tec­tion, our Jäger basalt bags can also be used for the weight­ing of sub­ma­rine cables or pipelines and as fix­a­tion in dike and coastal construction.
